FIGHT
In an open facility, like McEwen Dining Hall, escaping should be your first priority. However, if you are unable to reach the exits in time and are close to the gunman, choose a light makeshift weapon that you can wield easily. If this is not possible, target the gunman's eyes, throat or groin. Keep the barrel of the gun pointed away from you or fleeing individuals at all costs.
RUN
If the gunman enters the main entrance of McEwen Dining Hall, attempt to make it to the nearest exit without being heard or seen. At times there can be hundreds of students, faculty and staff in the dining hall. While escaping, be careful not to stampede individuals. If at all possible, try to help those who have fallen or are injured escape.
