RUN
The Moseley Student Center has multiple entrances and exits. There is no reason to hide or fight if a shooter enters this area of the center. Run in the opposite direction of the perceived threat. If the location of the shooter is unclear, use context clues — such as running people and sounds of gunfire — to identify the direction of the threat.
RUN
When attempting to escape from an active shooter, run from structure to structure in order to avoid direct hits or ricochets. Pause momentarily between structures and wait for the opportune time — when the gunman is reloading or is distracted — to dash to the next structure.
HIDE
If you are inside one of the student offices within Moseley Student Center and are unable to escape, immediately turn off the lights and lock the door. While making as little noise as possible, attempt to barricade the door with furniture. Assume that the gunman will find you. Choose a makeshift weapon that is easy to wield and prepare to defend yourself with it. While preparing for the gunman, attempt to call 911. Notify the dispatcher with as much information as you have, specifically: your location, the number of people with you, any injuries and any information you might have on the shooter.
HIDE
If there is an active shooter in Moseley Student Center, do not use the elevator in any situation. Hiding in the elevator would limit your escape routes, making you an easy target for the shooter. The noise from the elevator may alert the shooter and lead them to your location.
